Prarambh

With an objective to “identify, inculcate and enhance the innate entrepreneurship skills instudents” and to “provide them with an opportunity to polish their skills during the pandemic”, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell at St. Joseph’s College of Law hosted Prarambh: its first-ever inter-college event organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell under the guidance of faculty coordinator, Ms Lincy Joykutty.

A special mention of gratitude to our esteemed judges for the event; Mr Dhanush Parekh and Ms Manjula P who were kind enough to accept invitation to judge the event. They showed nothing butenthusiasm and involvement by posing mind-blowing questions and constructive feedback to each team.

Mr Dhanush Parekh is the Founder and CFO of ChipsnCo an FMCG company and Founder of ViralWorks, a design company.

Ms Manjula P has great experience in heading student grievance cells and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell in the institution she worked at. She is currently pursuing her PhD.

The event was a hybrid of a product launch competition, where the organizers provided the teams with a product. The teams were given 15 minutes time to come up with a full-fledged business plan, with their main focus on bringing the product to relevance with Covid-19. The products given to them were mostly FMCG. The teams were questioned by a panel of investors, RushikaM,Diksha Garg and Aditya Prasad, students from St. Joseph’s College of Law followed by the judges.

It was a two-day event, which was held on 3rd and 4th September 2020. The event began at 3 PM, with the Principal; Dr Prathima Prabhakar addressed the gathering withexuberance. After her motivating speech, the event was off to a great start with 9 colleges from in and out of Bangalore.

Each team came up with interesting and unique business plans, all the while tackling the questions posed to them with grace and confidence. The first day saw presentations from four teams followed by five teams the last day.

After such amazing participation and deliberation from each team, the judges sent in their final top 3 teams, after taking time to keenly scrutinize each criterion for each team. After final words were delivered by the investors and the judges, Director Fr. Praveen Hrudayaraj commenced the closing ceremony by marveling us with his inspiring speech. He then announced the winners of the event. Each winner was awarded with cash prize in the form of Amazon vouchers. The event came to a successful end with the vote of thanks.

The continuous effort and dedication the members of the ED Cell paid on the event must be appreciated and commended, for it would not have been successful without them.
