Visit to Preethi Nivas

The outreach program for I BALLB B was organised at Preethi Nivas, where students were expected to conduct certain activities for the residents. The students raised Rs. 7678 for the resident and purchased a variety of essentials. The document denoting the exact items and amount spent is attached below.

Aside from this, the students all mentioned the gratitude they felt interacting with these residents and understanding their personal stories. As a class representative, I felt this gave our entire class a sense of unity in recognizing and appreciating our privilege of having families that provide for us and a wholesome education. Many students mentioned that they felt as though they were interacting with their grandfathers, and felt a deep sense of empathy for the unfortunate circumstances that these residents have endured. Seeing all of them smile, dance, sing, and participate enthusiastically in the activities we planned out for them made all of us feel like we had made a contribution and an impact on their days. The fact that many of them were still smiling and joyful despite their difficult experiences is a testament not only to god but also to the support system at Preethi Nivas and Father who has selflessly created personal bonds with each of them.

Amit M, roll number 23203 said, "We interacted with people that we wouldn't have the chance to meet, and I made a friend among the residents." He mentioned that it was wonderful to understand his take on the world and perspective on life.

As a class, I believe that this was an especially eye-opening experience for some. Students who have never engaged in community service or social work activities were exposed to a new environment that challenged their empathy and ability to see beyond themselves. Bhaskar Sir, our class mentor was also extremely impactful and encouraging to every student who was unsure, uncomfortable, and apprehensive. He also set a wonderful example, interacting joyfully with the residents and breaking the ice.
