SAMVADHA 2.0

The "Samvadha 2.0” start a conversation" event was successfully conducted on the 23rd of May, 2024, by the Law and Gender Committee & Human rights committee in the College AV Room of the Admin Block. The event commenced at 1:30 PM and concluded at 3:30 PM, with 19 students in attendance.

Female students discussed societal expectations, particularly the burden on women to manage both emotional and physical clean-up duties, and the undervaluation of their achievements.

Issues related to women in professional fields, societal attitudes towards smart and opinionated women, and the assumption that men know more even when they don't, were discussed.

Female faculty shared perspectives on women's roles as caregivers, highlighting the lack of recognition for their technical contributions compared to men. Female students shared personal experiences of orthodox mentalities, emphasizing the expectation for women to handle household chores and the liberty afforded to men.

The societal structuring that discourages men from showing emotions and the different problem-solving approaches of men and women were also examined. Further discussions highlighted the challenges faced by women in securing housing, the natural inclination for women to handle tasks like cooking, and the need for societal change to ensure women's safety, especially at night.

The event concluded with the male students sharing their reasoning for unable to be expressed themselves freely because of the society. The event fostered a sense of community and solidarity, allowing for a heartfelt exchange of ideas and concerns. The discussions underscored the importance of addressing these issues and striving for a more inclusive and equitable society.
