Brief Report on Recruitment Interaction - Uravu Labs

The Placement Cell of St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru organised a recruitment interaction with Uravu Labs Pvt. Ltd. on April 10, 2026 for the graduating LLB batch of 2026. The event was conducted on SJCL campus and was attended by students who had pre-registered for the opportunity. The interaction was arranged as part of the Placement Cell’s efforts to create direct employment opportunities for students.

The recruitment interaction was conducted by Mr. Joseph Joe, an alumnus of St. Joseph’s College of Law from the Batch of 2023. He currently works as a Legal Associate at Uravu Labs Pvt. Ltd., a Bengaluru-based company working in the field of atmospheric water generation technology powered by renewable energy. At Uravu Labs, Mr. Joseph Joe handles legal functions such as contract management, regulatory compliance, due diligence support, and corporate advisory work.

Mr. Joseph Joe visited the college mainly to conduct a recruitment process for selecting a suitable candidate to join the legal team at Uravu Labs. The selected candidate would first undergo a two-month paid internship followed by a full-time role based on performance. His visit also reflected the continued connection between the institution and its alumni, as well as the confidence placed by alumni in the quality of students graduating from SJCL.

During the interaction, Mr. Joseph Joe explained the nature of work carried out in an in-house legal environment and the practical skills expected from law graduates entering the corporate sector. He focused on the importance of contract review, legal drafting, commercial awareness, and the ability to identify legal risks in agreements. He also highlighted the value of independent thinking, communication skills, and practical legal reasoning in corporate legal roles.

The recruitment process consisted of two stages. In the first stage, students were given a written assessment based on the review of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between a company and a hospital. The exercise required candidates to identify drafting mistakes, legal inconsistencies, and problematic clauses within the agreement. The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the practical legal understanding of candidates rather than their academic knowledge alone.

The second stage involved individual interviews conducted by Mr. Joseph Joe. Through these interviews, candidates were assessed on their legal reasoning, communication skills, understanding of corporate law, and ability to work in a professional legal environment. The interaction was conducted in a professional and student-friendly manner, and students actively participated throughout the process.

Overall, the recruitment interaction provided students with practical exposure to corporate legal recruitment and helped them understand the expectations of in-house legal roles. The event also strengthened the relationship between the Placement Cell and alumni working in the legal industry.
