The pride walk was conducted on 6th of June ,2023 by the Law and Gender Committee from college campus to Brigade Road from 12:00 pm to 1pm with the Police permission obtained from Ashok Nagar Police Station. Students from all batches joined the pride walk in order to promote and support gender equality and sexual minorities. 52 students comprising faculty coordinator and student coordinator took an active part in the pride walk. The quote the definition of Ally “a heterosexual and cisgender person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality and LGBTQ + social movements”. It was not the question for us or our sexuality but it was a question of equality and a cause to support . Every other student and the ones who took part in the pride marched passionately when we contemplated about the hatred and backlash the gender minorities receive every other day and we marched from the campus to Brigade Road junction with all vigor and zeal to support and promote the cause; which is equality at all means.

The reaction was very positive as we marched holding the banner of the college and placards with pride. The highlight of the event was when the traffic police at the end of Brigade Road saw us, they were quite happy and posed to click pictures with the students.it was a heartwarming moment to be a part of that small moment because it’s evident that a lot of unlearning and relearning had taken place in their lives for them to be so supportive to us and our walk.

The pride walk reminded us all how much work needs to be done in the sphere of equal rights for the LGBTQIA + community. More such events are to be held to educate and start the process of learning and supporting gender equality .
