4th National Moot Court Competition

The 4th National Moot Court Competition was held from 12th to 14th July 2024, aiming to test and enhance students' research, drafting, and advocacy skills. The moot problem addressed legal challenges to the newly enacted UCC in Uttarakhand, scrutinizing its impact on fundamental rights, questioning the discriminatory nature of the Shariat Act, 1937 in divorce proceedings, and advocating for equal rights for men and women. Additionally, it sought recognition of live-in relationships and succession rights. The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony on 12th July, with Professor Dr. V. S. Elizabeth as the Guest of Honor. Participants' memorandums were evaluated by external advocates, and a researchers' test was conducted. On 13th July, preliminary rounds, Octa rounds, and quarterfinals were held, judged by practicing advocates and academicians. The final day, 14th July, featured the semifinals and finals, judged by Hon'ble Justice MG Shukure Kamal, Adv. L P E Rego, Adv. Santosh Nagarhale, and Adv. Joseph Anil. The finalists were School of Legal Studies, CMR University, and RV Institute of Legal Studies. In the valedictory ceremony, the School of Legal Studies, CMR University emerged as the winner, with RV Institute of Legal Studies as the runner-up and School of Law, Christ Deemed to be University as the second runner-up. JSS Mysore won the Best Memorandum award, Mr. Gaurav Shashittal from the School of Legal Studies, CMR University was named Best Researcher, and C M Anjali from Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies was awarded Best Speaker. Trophies were awarded to the winning teams, while plaques were given for individual achievements and the best memorandum. Participation certificates were also given to all the participants.
