On the 24th May 2024, the AICUF SJCL collaborated with BIRDS (Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society), for a medical camp for the migrant workers at Bellahalli Bande, Bengaluru.

The day began with an orientation that was given to students at the BIRDS campus. Soon after which a visit was organised to the migrant labourer’s site where the medical camp was to take place. The students then began to assist in registration, and checking height, weight and blood pressure of the residents.

Students were divided into the groups and started working and interacting with people in the settlement. More than 90 people were provided with medical aid. It was observed that most of the children residing in the region had skin infection and malnutrition. We also visited their homes and experienced the conditions they were living in. The experience gave students an opportunity to witness the conditions in which migrant labourers reside.
