Electoral Awareness Drive

The Human Rights Cell & AICUF of St. Joseph’s College of law, Bengaluru organized an awareness drive to educate the students and faculty of the college on the importance of participating in the politics of the country and to also understand who a good voter and citizen is. This initiative was planned out to put into action the mandate set by the Karnataka State Law University and the College's mission to raise more sensitive and responsible citizens.

In furtherance of these efforts, the cell invited registrations from students who needed help to procure new voter IDs and to regularise old ones. As a result of this exercise, close to 250 students registered to clarify concerns of which 50 students applied for new voter IDs. Apart from this the volunteers from AICUF and the Cell performed a street play, group dance and group song during the assembly in the quadrangle.

The Awareness drive was conducted over a period of 2 weeks and it successfully came to a close on 20th February. Some of the glimpses of the drive have been attached below for your perusal.

In order to assist the students in registering on the voter helpline app and to apply for new voter ID, we put up 3 help desks in each floor of the academic building. The help desks were active for 1 week from 2pm to 3pm.
