Report on the Leadership Workshop for Class Representatives

A Leadership Workshop was organized at St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bangalore for the newly elected 46 Class Representatives with the objective of equipping them with the skills and responsibilities required to effectively represent their respective classes. The workshop aimed to nurture leadership qualities, promote accountability, and encourage collaboration among student leaders.

The sessions were conducted by Fr. Jerald D’Souza SJ, Director of SJCL, and Fr. Harry Terry, Finance Officer of SJCL, who shared valuable insights drawn from their experience in leadership and institutional administration. They also gave the students an insight into Jesuit ideologies and leadership principles. The first session, led by Fr. Jerald D’Souza SJ, focused on the essence of leadership and the responsibilities of a class representative. He emphasized that leadership is not merely about holding a position but about serving others with integrity, responsibility, and commitment. He encouraged the representatives to act as a bridge between the students and the administration, ensuring that communication remains transparent, respectful, and constructive. He also highlighted the importance of empathy, accountability, and ethical decision-making in student leadership.

The second session was conducted by Fr. Harry Terry, who spoke about discipline, responsibility, and effective coordination within the academic environment. He emphasized the importance of time management, financial awareness in organizing student initiatives, and maintaining professionalism while carrying out leadership duties. His session provided practical guidance on how student leaders can efficiently manage responsibilities while balancing academic commitments.

The third session was a team-building activity, designed to foster cooperation and unity among the newly elected representatives. Through interactive exercises and group participation, students were encouraged to develop trust, communication skills, and collaborative problem-solving abilities. The activities created an engaging environment where students could connect with one another and understand the importance of teamwork in leadership. The students were accompanied by Prof. Blessy Sudarsan to Ashirvad for the purpose of this workshop.

The workshop concluded on a positive and interactive note, followed by lunch, providing participants with an opportunity to interact informally and strengthen their sense of community.
