The Annual Play (Crime 27 of 1128)

26th July 2024 The preparation for the college annual play commenced on May 24th by inviting students for the audition of the play cast which spanned between 24th May to 29th May, and by inviting volunteers for the various departments that worked for the play. The notification for the same was sent to classes by WhatsApp messages containing a google form and by circulating a physical poster in the class room and the college building. The invitation attracted over 30 participants for the audition and 75 student volunteers for the departments of Production, Marketing and Makeup and costumes. The auditions were undertaken by Mr. Geo, Mr. Bhaskar, Ms. Aishwarya and Mr. Thomas Alexandar.

Meanwhile, after having shortlisted on the cast based on the auditions, the play practice commenced on June 03rd onwards with the timings between 1.30 to 4.30 PM during weekdays and between 9.00 AM to 12.00 PM on Saturdays. After having prepared the budged as per the departments and having obtained Fr. Directors approval, the proceeding weeks witnessed tremendous works of intensive practice sessions animated by Mr. Thomas Alexandar in acting and other specific workshops by Mr. Bhaskar intermittently. The Production, Marketing, and Costumes departments parallelly, headed by the respective faculty in-charges (Ms. Blessy, Mr. Ashish and Ms Aishwarya) determined their designs, prints of posters, and costumes respectively and worked for the implementation of the same under the given deadline.

In the following weeks (from 15nd July onwards) the Marketing department designed the posters, tickets, Banners and sent physical invites to the BJES institutions in person, by distributing posters and giving invitation letters. The Jesuit communities attached to the institutions were also given separate invitation. The dance team in their turn supported by the cultural committee and animated by Ms Ayman, worked on the apt song and depiction of the same during the tenure.

Having sold out the entire lot of passes, and with the demand for passes still persisting the Final day of the staging of play was house full (450 viewers) with immense response and appreciation from the students and others alike.
