ADR Committee at St. Joseph’s College of Law took the initiative to conduct an interactive workshop on the topic of ARBITRATION that took place on 8th June 2023 from 12- 1 PM in the AV room of the admin block. The guest of honour for the event was Honourable Justice A.V. Chandrashekara. After the introduction to arbitration was done by the assigned Emcee of the event, then sir himself was given the dias, He had extensive knowledge in arbitration and specifically international commercial arbitration which allowed him to impart oodles of insight into the world of arbitration. His speech revolved around the practical aspects of arbitration and he explained the technicalities of the arbitration, mediation and conciliation processes along with the integration of each of these with the Civil Procedure Code, 1908 and other provisions that sanction and interact with the ADR mechanism.

He also talked about the procedure observed in marital issues, land disputes, property matters and international commercial arbitration among others. The participants were enthralled by his speech. In the end the students were given the opportunity to interact with the guest speaker to clear their doubts which excited the guest, the total number of attendees of the workshop was beyond 60. Finally, the guest of honor was felicitated by our Director Reverend Father Jerald D’Souza SJ and Principal Ms. Pauline Priya ma’am with a commemorative shawl and a healthy memento. This concludes the report on the workshop.
