EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Recipient of Commonwealth Fellowship for Postdoctoral Studies in Sociology in the Centre for Development Studies, University College of Swansea, Wales, U.K.

Received Ph.D from Bangalore University in the year 1990 on “Problems of Industrial Management: A Sociological study of Private and Public Sector Industries”.

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

I was the Head of the Department of Sociology, Christ University, Bengaluru till 30th November 2016 (Date of Superannuation – 60 years).

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Five years of Research experience as U.G.C fellow at Bangalore University and also as commonwealth fellow at University College of Swansea, U.K.

Twenty Five years and 6 months of teaching and research experience at Christ University–20 years in PG Sociology and 25 years and six months in UG Sociology – Subjects Taught : Industrial Sociology, Industrial Relations, Social Problem, Organizational Behaviour, Public Health, Social Movements and Social Change, Urban Sociology, Research Methodology, Gender and Society, Classical Sociology, Sociological Theory.

Teaching experience in MBA, Christ College – Western Michigan University, Christ College Twinning Programme.

Teaching experience in MPhil and Ph.D at Christ University.

GUIDANCE IN MPHIL

Area of guidance include Impact of New Work Culture on Women Employees, Women Managers – Work Life Balance, Comparative study between IT workers and Garment Workers, Women in Biotechnology, Dropouts and Muslim Students, Public Private Partnership in Education, Identity Formation and Construction of Communities Among the Users of Social Networking Sites, An Ethnographic Study on Polygyny Marriage in Arunachal Pradesh.

GUIDANCE IN PHD: RECOGNIZED AS A REGISTERED GUIDE FOR BANGALORE UNIVERSITY & CHRIST UNIVERSITY.

One student has been awarded PhD under my guidance in the year 2011, Title of the thesis “Role of Women in Joint Forest Management – A Comparative Study of Kerala and Karnataka”.
